Emma Sindelar factored into four goals and senior tri-captain
Megan Brock scored twice to propel the Swarthmore women's soccer team to a 6-0 win over Lancaster Bible on Wednesday, Sept. 11 at Clothier Field. The Garnet utilized a balanced attack and had five players find the back of the net to stay undefeated at Clothier Field this fall.
Swarthmore (4-1), which held a commanding 44-4 advantage in total shots, only needed 19 seconds to get on the scoreboard when Sindelar found Brock in the left corner for one of her game-high three assists. Sindelar then fed freshman
Rebecca Mayeda a short cross on the right that was placed inside the near post to double the lead for the hosts in the 31st minute.
The Garnet, who have outscored their opponents by a count of 13-1 at home, added four more insurance tallies in the second half. Brock set up a tally by senior
McCleary Philbin and then beat multiple defenders to score on an unassisted play in a span of 6:02 to give her team a commanding 4-0 advantage in the 57th minute. Freshman
Mele Johnson followed with her first career goal in the 70th before Sindelar added one more insurance tally just over two minutes later to seal the final outcome.
Sophomore
Reba Magier earned the win after making one save on two chances in the opening half for Swarthmore.
Caela Long made two stops in the second frame to combine with Magier for the clean sheet. Kaitlyn Schueing of Lancaster Bible turned away 16 of the 44 shots she faced in the losing effort.
Swarthmore will return to action on Sunday, Sept. 15 at 4 p.m. when it visits Franklin & Marshall for its Centennial Conference opener.
