BALTIMORE, Md. – Top-seeded Johns Hopkins (18-2) defeated the No. 4 seed Swarthmore College men's tennis team (11-10) by a score of 5-0 on Saturday morning in the Centennial Conference semifinals.
With the win, the Jays advance to the Centennial Conference championship match to face the winner of Franklin & Marshall/Haverford.
Hopkins opened up strong in doubles play, taking all three matches to build a 3-0 lead. The Jays won first at No. 3 doubles (8-4), rallied to win No. 1 doubles (8-4), and then closed it out with an 8-3 win from No. 2 doubles.
In singles, victories at the No. 2 and No. 3 flights secured the win for the Blue Jays. Andy Hersh won at No. 2 singles 6-1, 6-1 over
Max Sacks. Hopkins' Ben Hwang sealed it with a 6-0, 6-1 win over
Max Kaye at No. 3 singles.
Swarthmore finishes its season at 11-10.
