Box Score SWARTHMORE, Pa. - Leading wire to wire, the Swarthmore College women's lacrosse team (6-1, 1-0) opened Centennial Conference action with a 12-9 victory over Ursinus College (2-4, 0-1) on Saturday afternoon.
Senior Annalise Penikis led all scorers with four goals and two assists, while collected two groundballs, two draws and two caused turnovers.
Elyse Tierney, Sara Lentricchia, and Lucy Whitacre each tallied two goals for Swarthmore in the victory. Emma Sipperly notched a goal and Nicole Vanchieri tallied a goal and four draws.
Garnet keepers junior Michelle Ammerman collected three saves in 40:34 minutes and freshman Connie Bowen caught three saves in 19:26 minutes of action.
Nicole Kovacs led the Bears with three goals and keeper Riley Pembroke stopped six shots in the effort.
The victory is the Garnet's first regular-season win over Ursinus since 1997.
