Box Score CLEARWATER, Fla. – The Swarthmore College women's lacrosse team concluded its Spring Break trip with a 10-4 victory over the University of Rochester on Thursday afternoon.
Senior Annalise Penikis finished with two goals and four assists to lead the Garnet, while Corinne Sommi, Elyse Tierney and Sara Lentricchia tabbed two goals each. Junior Lucy Whitacre picked up one goal and one assist and senior Nicole Vanchieri notched one goal to round out the Garnet scoring.
Rochester got on board in the first minute of play, but Swarthmore bounced back by outscoring the Yellow Jackets 5-1 to finish the first half with a 5-2 advantage. The Garnet prevailed on three of four free position attempts in the first 30 minutes of play.
Despite having a 12-16 draw control handle, Rochester could not convert into goals. Swarthmore again tallied five goals in the final half to bring home a spring training victory.
Swarthmore will have a quick turnaround and play at Widener on Saturday, March 16 at 1:00 p.m. before a four-game home slate beginning the next week.
