Flaherty Sets School Record to Highlight Second Day of Men's Swimming Championships

LANCASTER, Pa. - Junior John Flaherty set the school record in the 400 IM to highlight the Swarthmore College men's swimming team's performance on the second day of the Centennial Conference Championships.

As a team, the Garnet remained in sixth place as competition came to a close on the second day of the Centennial Conference championships at Franklin & Marshall.

Flaherty finished in 4:09.95, taking fourth overall. Senior Daniel Duncan was right behind him in the same event, finishing with a time of  4:10.79, which also topped the previous school record. Two other Swarthmore men swam A-finals,  as senior Roger Chin earned sixth in the 100 backstroke (55.53), and junior Stan Le touched eighth in the 100 breaststroke (1:01.07).

The meet continues tomorrow morning at 10 am, and will conclude with an evening finals session at 6 pm.

Note: The Presto Sports web servers were down from 10 p.m. last night until this morning, leaving the Swarthmore Athletics website and hundreds of others non-functional. We apologize for the inconvenience.
