SWARTHMORE, Pa. – Junior
Samuel Tomlinson and freshman
Andrew Steele each posted a runner-up finish in an individual event as the Swarthmore College men's swimming team placed second among five schools at the Swarthmore Invitational on Saturday, Nov. 23 at the Ware Pool.
Tomlinson placed second in the 400-yard individual medley in 4:24.96, while Steele had a runner-up time of 54.73 seconds in the 100-yard butterfly. Tomlinson and Steele also teamed up with freshman
Stephen Sekula and senior
John Flaherty on the second-place 400-yard freestyle relay squad that hit the wall in 3:18.74.
Rounding out the list of top performers for the Garnet was freshman
Liam Fitzstevens, who recorded two third-place times of 4:25.47 in the 400-yard individual medley and 2:02.90 in the 200-yard butterfly.
Ursinus won the meet with 1,127.5 points, while Swarthmore was second with 864.5 points. Ocean County College (415), Lycoming (374) and Cabrini (217) rounded out the team scoring.
Swarthmore will be back in action on Saturday, Dec. 7 when it hosts Ursinus for a dual meet at 1 p.m.
