EWING, NJ - The Swarthmore College men's soccer team battled to a scoreless draw against The College of New Jersey on Tuesday night.
Colin Crowe made three saves in his first shutout of the season and sixth of his career. The Garnet offense outshot the hosts 13-7, but were unable to break through with a deciding goal.
HOW IT HAPPENED
- The Garnet threatened with a flurry of shots in the 10th minute, but attempts from
Mason Jelovsek and
Javier Minuesa Sicilia were blocked before reaching goal. Swarthmore threatened later in the half with shots on goal from
Brooks Stoddard,
Ben Fair and
JohnPaul D'Andrea, but were held scoreless by the Lions.
- Crowe made an outstanding save in the 13th minute. The sophomore reacted quickly to fend off a dangerous header from the center of the box. Crowe tallied three saves in a scoreless opening half, while his team held a 9-5 shot advantage.
- In the 79th minute, Nate Kim played an excellent centering feed to Charles Orluk, who sent a shot just wide of the right post.
- Neither team recorded a shot on goal in the final 45-minutes of play. The Garnet held a slim 4-2 shot advantage in a half dominated by defense.
