Softball Places Seven on All-Centennial Team, Goldberg Tabbed Pitcher of the Year

LANCASTER, Pa. – Swarthmore College's Lilly Goldberg was selected the Centennial Conference Softball Pitcher of the Year and was one of seven Garnet players chosen to the All-Centennial Team on Wednesday afternoon.

Goldberg is the second Swarthmore player to earn Pitcher of the Year accolades, alongside Meg Ozawa (2022). It is the second career major award for the sophomore, who garnered Rookie of the Year distinction in 2025.

Goldberg was a member of the All-Centennial First Team and was joined by Avery McClure and Iris Barone. Kate Borza was included on the second team while Lane Barron, Ava Babcock, and Lia Fong all received honorable mention. In addition, Serafina Tinio was Swarthmore's representative on the Centennial All-Sportsmanship Team.

Goldberg posted an 18-3 record with a 1.09 ERA. She hurled 16 complete games with four shutouts. The sophomore walked just 33 batters and struck out 98 in 141.2 innings while opponents hit just .201 against her. She ranked first in the conference in ERA, innings pitched, and wins, second in strikeouts, and third in opposing batting average.

The senior led the conference in hitting, OPS, runs, hits, triples, and stolen bases and also ranked fifth in walks. Barone also was a steady hand in center field, committing just one error all season.

Swarthmore's primary designated player, Borza hit .259 with a .720 OPS, tallying 15 hits, two doubles, 10 RBI, and 16 runs. She posted three multi-hit games and had a three-RBI game versus Haverford College in the Centennial Championship.

Barron went 11-4 with a 2.95 ERA as the Garnet's number two pitcher behind Goldberg. She tossed nine complete games with three shutouts. The senior walked only 22 batters while striking out 29 in 87.2 innings. Barron tied for fourth in the conference in wins and ranked seventh in ERA, eighth in innings pitched, ninth in opposing batting average, and 10th in walks allowed.

Babcock compiled a .250 batting average, .742 OPS, 20 hits, eight doubles, 18 RBI, and 18 runs. The junior did not commit an error behind the plate and threw out four baserunners. She had three multi-hit contests and tallied four RBI twice.

Fong hit .212 with a .601 OPS. She totaled 18 hits, four doubles, two homers, 16 RBI, and 15 runs. The sophomore has been excellent at shortstop, fielding at a .926 clip and helping turn five double plays.
