SWARTHMORE, Pa. – The Swarthmore College softball team won a pair of conference contests versus Ursinus College on Tuesday afternoon. The Garnet defeated the Bears 9-1 in six innings and 3-1 to increase their win streak to eight games.
Ava Babcock led the Swarthmore offense, going 4-for-6 with three doubles, four RBI, and one run.
Iris Barone was 3-for-6 with a triple, two walks, two stolen bases, two RBI, and two runs. She became the program's all-time leader in triples, smacking the 19
th of her career in the second game.
Serafina Tinio recorded a hit in both of her at-bats, smacking a double and driving in one.

Lane Barron both allowed just one run in six innings of work to earn the victories. The duo gave up just six combined hits.

HOW IT HAPPENED
- The Garnet opened the scoring in the second with a pair of runs.
Linnaea Rasmussen led off with a single and went to second on a sacrifice bunt.
Kate Borza singled to put runners on the corners before Babcock laced a double to left center to plate Rasmussen. Borza came home on a groundout to make it 2-0.
- Goldberg retired the first 10 batters she faced before her lone blemish in the fourth as the Bears connected on a home run to trail 2-1. Swarthmore restored a two-run cushion in the bottom of the inning when Borza scored on another groundout after reaching on an error.
- The Garnet put up four runs in the fifth to go up 7-1.
Avery McClure singled and Rasmussen followed with a double with one away. After a line out, Borza singled home McClure before Babcock doubled down the line to bring in two. Barone added an RBI single to put Swarthmore ahead six.
- In the sixth,
Rae Barron singled with one out and scored on a double by Tinio. After a pop up and a walk, Babcock hit her third double of the contest to bring in the ninth run and end the game.

HOW IT HAPPENED
- The Garnet got off to a quick start with a pair of runs in the opening frame. Barone scored on an error and
Emilee Espinoza singled in a run. In the second, Barone hit her record-setting triple with one out. After a walk, Espinoza brought in Barone with a sacrifice fly to make it 3-0.
- Ursinus tallied its lone run in the fourth. The Bears loaded the bases with a single, double, and hit by pitch. The visitors then drew a walk to get on the board.
Lane Barron limited the damage, getting a groundout to end the inning and strand three runners.
- Barron gave way to
Iris Castor in the seventh. Castor retired Ursinus in order, notching a pair of strikeouts, and earned her second save of the year.
