LANCASTER, Pa. – Swarthmore College's
Dylan Hayes Gilbert was named the Centennial Conference Men's Tennis Player of the Week on Tuesday.
Gilbert was the hero for the eighth-ranked Garnet in a 4-3 victory at seventh-ranked Johns Hopkins, pulling out a three-set victory in the final match at sixth singles to give Swarthmore the win. He won the opening set, 6-2, but dropped a tiebreak in the second set, 6-7, and was forced to a decisive frame. Gilbert recovered in the final set and pulled away for a 6-2 triumph.
The Garnet host Washington College for the Centennial Conference semifinals on Friday.
