FREDERICKSBURG, Va. – The No. 12 Swarthmore College men's tennis team opened play at the Mary Washington Invitational on Friday. The Garnet defeated No. 14 Emory University, 4-1, in the quarterfinals before falling to No. 7 Johns Hopkins University in the semis, 4-2.

HOW IT HAPPENED
- Swarthmore earned back-to-back 6-3 decisions to clinch the doubles point.

Utham Koduri picked up the win at first doubles while

Nikola Galov were victorious at the second spot.
- The Eagles recorded their lone point at fourth singles but the Garnet grabbed wins at the second, third, and sixth positions to take the match.
Rishi Verma (6-3, 6-4) and
Dylan Hayes Gilbert (6-3, 6-2) produced triumphs in straight sets at the third and sixth flights.
Max Lindstrom was taken the distance at second singles but battled to a 6-1, 2-6, 6-3 success.

HOW IT HAPPENED
- Swarthmore took the point in doubles once again to start the bout. The Blue Jays grabbed the win at first doubles but Chen/Galov came out on top at the second spot, 6-4. Lindstrom/
Winston Zhang then gave the Garnet the lead with a 7-6 tiebreak victory at third doubles.
- Melnikov defeated his opponent at first singles in straight sets, 6-4, 6-1. However, Hopkins earned the decisions at second through fifth singles to take the match.
