FREDERICKSBURG, Va. – The No. 12 Swarthmore College men's tennis team took third place at the Mary Washington Invitational on Saturday with a 4-1 victory over No. 8 Washington University in St. Louis.

Max Lindstrom got the Garnet off to a strong start with a 6-2 win at third doubles. However, the Bears earned back-to-back victories at the top two spots to take a 1-0 lead.
- Swarthmore then dominated singles play, grabbing four straight triumphs to come back and take the match. Lindstrom got it started with a 6-2, 6-2 success at second singles.
Dylan Hayes Gilbert cruised to a 6-2, 6-1 win at the sixth position to give the Garnet a 2-1 edge.

Nikola Galov took care of his opponent 6-1, 6-3 at fifth singles to put Swarthmore on the cusp.
Michael Melnikov then finished off the victory with a 6-3, 7-5 decision at the top flight.

The Garnet (14-6) return to conference play on Friday when they host Haverford College.
