No. 25 Baseball Powers Past Immaculata in 18-4 Rout

IMMACULATA, Pa. - The No. 25 Swarthmore College baseball team overpowered Immaculata University, 18-4, on Wednesday afternoon. The Garnet never looked back after exploding for 12 runs in the opening frame. 

Noam AuYeung had one of the best games of his career, going 4-for-4 with three RBI and three runs scored. Deven Peterson also had a big day at the dish with a season-high four RBI, while Nathaniel Kittredge added three RBI.  

Teddy Helgerson picked up his first collegiate victory, lasting 3.0 innings with one hit and one earned run. Ian Born, Ryan Fee and Edward Dingle also saw time to combine for four innings with two runs allowed. 

HOW IT HAPPENED
-  The Garnet batted around twice, sending 18 runners to the plate in a 12-run first inning. Peterson opened the stanza with a two-run double, while Kittredge followed with a sacrifice fly. Alessandro Propper-Bowring, AuYeung, and Zac Kahn continued to add on with RBI singles, while Peterson wore a pitch with the bases loaded to plate his third run of the inning. AuYeung then capped off the stanza with his second RBI-single of the frame, making it 12-0.

- The Mighty Macs added a run in the first and the third to make a dent in their 12-run deficit. Swarthmore then set back Immaculata with a pair of runs in the fourth on RBI singles from Aaron Williams and Aidan Sullivan, 14-2.

- In the fifth, AuYeung capped off his afternoon with a sacrifice flyout, plating his fourth run. The Mighty Macs then got their run back with a tally in the bottom of the frame. 

- Peterson tripled home a run in the sixth before scoring on a Jackson Clemens single. Immaculata added its final run in the bottom half until Francisco Mora closed the scoring with an RBI single in the seventh.

UP NEXT
The Garnet (17-5) return to conference play with Ursinus College on Friday. Swarthmore looks to sweep the season series at home after earning a game one victory on Tuesday.
