No. 25 Baseball Falls to Ursinus, Splits Season Series

SWARTHMORE, Pa. - The No. 25 Swarthmore College baseball team split its season series with Ursinus College after a 13-1 loss on Friday afternoon.

The Garnet scored their lone run on a passed ball in the first inning. The Bears then responded with 13-unanswered runs to take care of the Garnet in seven innings.

Zac Kahn had a pair of hits, while accounting for the team's lone run after a one-out double in the first inning. Noam AuYeung collected the team's only other hit with a single in the seventh as the bats struggled to come alive against the reigning Centennial Pitcher of the Week.

HOW IT HAPPENED
-  Gavin Rigby escaped a first-inning jam with an inning-ending groundout to keep the Bears scoreless. Khan then got things started with a one-out double in the bottom half. He moved to third on a grounder back to the pitcher and then came home to score on a passed ball.

- The Bears took the lead with a pair of runs as they made the most of a one-hit second inning. Ursinus singled home the tying run, who reached a leadoff walk, and then had another run come home after a stolen base, wild pitch and then a RBI groundout.

- Kahn smoked another basehit in the third inning, but was stranded with two outs. The Bears then added another run with a double in the fourth . Ursinus took advantage of the Garnet in the fifth, scoring three runs on just one hit. The Bears tallied another in the sixth before Gabe Elliott slammed the door with a bases-loaded strikeout - disposing of his lone batter. The Garnet went down quickly in the bottom half, giving the visitors a 7-1 edge.

- The Bears closed out the game with six runs in the seventh, building a 13-1 lead. AuYeung tried to get the offense started with a single in the bottom frame, but was left stranded at first base.
