Baseball Walks Off No. 16 CWRU Again, Secures Series Win

LEXINGTON, SC - The Swarthmore College baseball team won its Sunday finale, 7-6, to take two of three games against No. 16 Case Western Reserve University. The Garnet walked off the nationally-ranked Spartans for the second time this weekend with more late-inning heroics.

Aidan Sullivan delivered for the Garnet with a walk-off double in the 11th inning, scoring Leor Kedar for the game-winning run. The sophomore finished 5-for-5 with three runs, a home run, two RBI, and a walk to cap off an excellent start to spring break. Kedar went 8-for-13 during the three game set against the Spartans.

David Herrin earned the victory for the Garnet, tossing three clean innings of relief. The sophomore faced the minimum in the final three innings to shut down the Spartans offense.

HOW IT HAPPENED
- After Jackson Garnecki tossed a clean first inning, the Garnet rewarded their pitcher with three runs in the bottom half. Kedar opened the frame with a leadoff homer, while Deven Peterson doubled home a run and Nathaniel Kittredge grounded out to plate another.

- Garnecki shut down the Spartans with a 1-2-3 frame in the second and third innings. Swarthmore then took advantage of a Zac Kahn double in the third, plating its fourth run on a fielding error.

- Case Western squeezed across a run in the fourth, trimming its deficit to three runs. Swarthmore loaded the bases in the bottom half with a pair of walks and a hit by pitch, but left them loaded.

- The Spartans continued to chip away with a solo homer in the fifth. They overtook the lead in the sixth with three runs on two hits and two errors, taking a 5-4 lead.

- Alessandro Propper-Bowring worked a two-out walk to keep the sixth inning alive. Wilson Henze then followed with a walk, while Kedar singled to center to even the score.

- Case Western took advantage of an error in the eighth inning, plating one run to take the lead. Swarthmore then rallied for a run in the ninth to force extra innings. Kedar singled to open the frame and later came around to score on a Brad Johnston single.

- Herrin faced the minimum in the ninth, 10th and 11th innings to blank the Spartans. Kedar then reached with a one-out single in the 11th before scoring the game-winning run on a walk-off double by Sullivan.
