LEXINGTON, S.C. – The Swarthmore College baseball team brought the bats in a pair of victories at the Spartan Southern Classic on Tuesday. The Garnet defeated Mitchell College, 12-7, before taking down Marietta College, 12-6.
The Garnet offense totaled 24 runs on 19 hits for the day.
Leor Kedar remained hot at the plate, going 5-for-9 over the two games. The reigning Centennial Conference Player of the Week tallied three doubles, seven RBI, three runs, a walk, and two stolen bases.
Alessandro Propper-Bowring was 3-for-5 with a triple, a home run, four RBI, six runs, four walks, and a stolen base.
Aidan Sullivan drove in three runs and scored twice. He also crushed his 19
th career home run, setting a new program record. He surpassed the previous mark held by Jackson Roberts.

HOW IT HAPPENED
- Swarthmore plated the first run in the third inning. Propper-Bowring drew a one-out walk, was sacrificed over to second, then scored on Kedar's single to left. The Mariners answered in the bottom of the frame, scoring on a two-out base hit to tie it at one.
- Mitchell took the lead with two runs in the fourth on a wild pitch and a single. The Garnet countered with three in the fifth to go ahead 4-3. Propper-Bowring led off with a triple and came home on a groundout. Kedar doubled, stole third, and scored on a error. Sullivan then reached on an error and later came home on a single by
Deven Peterson.
- The Mariners evened it up again with a run in the bottom of the fifth. Swarthmore then took the lead for good with a three-run sixth. Kedar doubled in a pair of runs and later scored on an error.
- The Garnet lead was down to two (8-6) entering the ninth before Swarthmore put the game out of reach with four runs.
Jackson Clemens recorded a sacrifice fly, Propper-Bowring singled in a run, and Kedar plated two with a base hit.

HOW IT HAPPENED
- The teams were scoreless through three innings when the Pioneers broke the ice with a three-run fourth. Marietta scored twice on a single and again on a triple. The Garnet got one back in the bottom of the frame on a sac fly by Propper-Bowring but the Pioneers made it 4-1 on an error in the fifth.
- Swarthmore closed the gap to one (4-3) with two runs in the bottom of the fifth.
Wilson Henze led off with a walk and later scored on a groundout.
Zac Kahn followed with an infield single to bring in Kedar, who was intentionally walked.
- Marietta's final runs came in the sixth on a pair of singles and the score was 6-3. In the bottom of the inning, the Garnet had two runners on for Sullivan. The senior blasted his record-breaking homer over the wall in right to even the score at six.
- After entering in the sixth,
Ezra Schwartz got out of a jam in the seventh to keep the score tied. The Pioneers put the first two runners on but Schwartz got a groundball double-play then a strikeout to keep things level. Swarthmore then went off for four runs in the bottom of the inning to take the lead. Kahn, Peterson, and Propper-Bowring reached to load the bases before
Andrew Firko laced a single through the right side to put the Garnet on top. Peterson then scored on a fielder's choice and Kedar brought in two more runs with a double to make the score 10-6.
- Propper-Bowring added insurance with a two-run jack to center in the eighth. It was the first career home run for the rookie.
