SWARTHMORE, Pa. – The No. 25 Swarthmore College baseball team had its eight-game win streak ended on Wednesday, dropping an 11-2 contest to No. 13 Rowan University.
The Profs scored runs in each of the first five innings to build their lead and held the Garnet off the scoreboard for the final six frames.
Andrew Firko was 2-for-3 with a walk and a run scored for the Garnet.
Alessandro Propper-Bowring launched his fifth home run of the season and
Aidan Sullivan recorded an RBI double.
HOW IT HAPPENED
- Rowan opened the scoring in the first with a sacrifice fly. The visitors added a run on a groundout in the second to make the score 2-0. The Profs expanded their advantage with a six-run third, tallying four hits and capitalizing on a Swarthmore error.
- The Garnet produced their only runs in the third. Propper-Bowring led off with a solo blast to left center. Firko drew a walk and later scored on Sullivan's double. Swarthmore had another opportunity to cut into the deficit in the fourth but left the bases loaded. Rowan scored twice in the fourth and once in the fifth to finish the scoring.
