Men's Lacrosse Rides Dominant First Half to Centennial Win at Muhlenberg

ALLENTOWN, Pa. – The Swarthmore College men's lacrosse team scored the first 10 goals of the game and went on to a 16-6 victory at Muhlenberg College on Wednesday night for the Garnet's first Centennial Conference win of the season.
 
Swarthmore built a 10-0 lead in the first half, dominating the possession game by winning 10 of the 12 face-offs in the opening 30 minutes. The Garnet finished with an 18-6 advantage on draws for the contest.
 
Fresh off becoming the program's all-time leader in face-off wins, Jack McHenry won 15 of his 19 draws on the night and collected 11 ground balls. Ryder Maston led the Swarthmore offense with five goals and six points. Clay Almgren notched five points on two goals and three assists while Rex Mabbs potted three goals. Nolan Ohrman chipped in two goals and one helper.
 
HOW IT HAPPENED
- Maston opened the scoring at the 13:51 mark of the opening quarter to begin a 10-0 Garnet run to begin the contest. Swarthmore netted five in the first and five in the second as it built a comfortable lead. Maston (3), Almgren (2), Mabbs (2), Ohrman, Owen George, and Andrew Stodden all found the back of the net in the half.
 
- Both teams scored twice in the third. The Mules broke their scoring drought with 13:03 on the clock before Maston and Mabbs registered back-to-back tallies. Muhlenberg ended the quarter with a goal to trail 12-2 entering the fourth.
 
- After another Mules marker, Ohrman, Ben Zabierek, and Dylan Ah Now all beat the goalkeeper to make the score 15-3 in favor of the visitors. It was the first career goal for Ah Now. Muhlenberg produced three of the final four goals of the game but was unable to get back in it.
