LANCASTER, Pa. – Swarthmore College's
Paola Almeda was selected the Centennial Conference Women's Tennis Player of the Week on Tuesday by the conference office.
Almeda went 4-0 over a pair of victories for the 21
st-ranked Garnet. The rookie teamed with
Kathleen Shiffer for a 6-0 win at first doubles at Muhlenberg. She continued to not drop a game in her match at fourth singles, winning 6-0, 6-0. Almeda then came away with two victories to help Swarthmore knock off unbeaten No. 11 Carnegie Mellon. She paired with Shiffer again for a 7-5 triumph at third doubles. Almeda then kickstarted the Garnet's comeback with a 7-5, 6-2 win at sixth singles as Swarthmore rallied from 3-0 down to win the match.
The Garnet battle Williams College and Ursinus College on Saturday.
