Tinker's Gem Propels Baseball Past Rutgers-Camden for Eighth Win in a Row

SWARTHMORE, Pa. – The Swarthmore College baseball team defeated Rutgers-Camden, 7-1, on Tuesday for its eighth consecutive victory.

Aidan Tinker was brilliant on the mound, hurling seven scoreless innings. He allowed just five hits and struck out five. The Garnet offense did all of its damage in back-to-back frames, scoring four runs in the third and three in the fourth.

Aidan Sullivan went 2-for-3 with two walks, three stolen bases, two RBI, and two runs. He set a new program record for career total bases in the contest. His mark of 319 eclipsed the record of 317 established by Charles Levitt in 2019.

Zac Kahn was 2-for-3 with a pair of walks, two RBI, and a run scored. Noam AuYeung, Deven Peterson, and Nathaniel Kittredge also drove in a run for Swarthmore.

HOW IT HAPPENED
- The Garnet put up four runs in the third to take the lead. AuYeung walked with one out and went to third on a throwing error before scoring on a Sullivan single. Sullivan stole second and Brad Johnston walked to put two runners on. Kahn singled to center to plate Sullivan and Johnston came home on a Peterson double. Kittredge's sacrifice fly brought in Kahn for the final run of the frame.

- Swarthmore tacked on three more in the fourth. Wilson Henze walked and went to second on a wild pitch. AuYeung doubled down the line in right to score Henze and make it 5-0. AuYeung touched home on another single by Sullivan and Sullivan later scored on a Kahn base hit.

- The seven runs were more than enough for Tinker, who threw seven strong innings for the win. He limited the scoring opportunities for Rutgers-Camden, allowing just two runners to reach second base. The outing was a new career-high in innings for the sophomore and he matched his career best in strikeouts.
