No. 21 Women's Tennis Earns a Pair of Conference Wins

SWARTHMORE, Pa. – The No. 21 Swarthmore College women's tennis team earned two Centennial Conference victories on Saturday, defeating Gettysburg College and Muhlenberg College by identical 7-0 scores.

HOW IT HAPPENED
- The Garnet won all three doubles matches. Lola Diaz and Erin Li battled to a 7-6 (7-5) win at the top spot. Riya Rao and Ella Strickler picked up a 6-1 victory at second doubles while Uma Pogrebivsky and Veronica Komorek cruised to a 6-0 triumph at the third position.
 
- Diaz defeated her opponent at first singles, 6-1, 6-4, and Li won at second singles by the same score. Strickler dropped just one game in a 6-1, 6-0 success at the third flight while Rao earned a 6-0, 6-1 victory at fourth singles.
 
- Pogrebivsky rolled to a 6-0, 6-0 win at the fifth spot and Madeline Posner was victorious at sixth singles, 6-2, 6-0.

HOW IT HAPPENED
- Swarthmore swept doubles play for a 1-0 lead. The teams of Kathleen Shiffer/Paola Almeda and Hannah Kideckel/Maya Morandat Stilling grabbed identical 6-0 wins at first and third doubles respectively. Lisa Messier and Alice Coxe defeated their opponents at the second flight 6-2.
 
- Messier cruised to a 6-0, 6-1 triumph at first singles. Shiffer won by the inverse score, 6-1, 6-0 at the second position. Kideckel, Almeda, and Coxe all shut out their opponents, 6-0, 6-0 at third through fifth singles. Morandat Stilling made quick work of her foe at the sixth spot, 6-0, 6-1.
 
UP NEXT
The Garnet (5-4, 2-0 Centennial) host No. 11 Carnegie Mellon University for a non-conference match on Sunday.
