Kedar Breaks CC Single-Game Homer Record, Baseball Wins Fifth-Straight

LEXINGTON, SC - The Swarthmore College baseball team capped off its spring break trip with a 17-10 thumping against SUNY Cobleskill on Thursday afternoon.

Leor Kedar capped off one of the best individual weeks in program history with a Centennial Conference record four-homer game. The sophomore became the first player in conference history to hit four home runs in a single game, surpassing the previous mark of three homers shared by 18 Centennial athletes.

Kedar went 5-for-6 with five RBI, five runs, and a walk, recording his third five-hit performance of the week. A day earlier, the Garnet leadoff hitter went 5-for-5 and finished a home run shy of the cycle. The reigning Centennial Player of the Week went 23-for-33 (.697) with six home runs, 15 RBI, 16 runs, and four walks during the seven-game stretch.

The Garnet leadoff hitter wasn't the only player who partook in the Swarthmore slugfest. Alessandro Propper-Bowring totaled three hits with two homers  and a triple, while Aidan Sullivan went 4-for-6 with three runs and two doubles. Nathaniel Kittredge also drove home four RBI in a three-hit performance.

HOW IT HAPPENED
- Cobleskill enjoyed an early lead, scraping across two runs in the opening frame. The Garnet answered with a Brad Johnston RBI groundout in the bottom half, while Kedar tied the game with a solo homer in the second. Later in the second, Zac Kahn singled home a go-ahead run to give Swarthmore a 3-2 lead.

- Swarthmore plated a run on a balk in the third inning, while the Fighting Tigers added a run in the fourth. The Garnet answered back in the bottom of the fourth, scoring on a wild pitch to make it 5-3.

- After Cobleskill cut its deficit to one run in the fifth, the Garnet exploded for five runs in the bottom half. Kedar led off the scoring with another solo homer, while Kittredge doubled home a pair. Propper-Bowring then capped off the big inning with a two-run shot, taking an 8-4 edge.

- Both teams traded runs in the sixth, while the Fighting Tigers made a dent in their deficit with another pair in the seventh. However, the Garnet crushed all of their opposition's momentum with five more runs in the bottom of the inning. Propper-Bowring launched his second homer of the day, before Kedar hit a two-run shot for his third long ball. Kittredge then singled home a pair to build a 16-7 cushion.

- The Garnet capped of their scoring in historic fashion. Swarthmore's sophomore slugger made history with his fourth homer of the game, becoming the first player in Centennial history to accomplish the feat. Cobleskill added three late runs, but it wasn't enough to threaten Swarthmore's massive lead.
