Women’s Lacrosse Rolls Past Berry in Hilton Head

HILTON HEAD ISLAND, SC - The Swarthmore College women's lacrosse team opened its spring break slate with a dominant 18-2 victory over Berry College on Wednesday morning. 

Kate Fox had another stellar performance, adding to an impressive rookie campaign with four goals and two assists. The Strath Haven graduate has recorded a hat trick in three-straight games, collecting 15 goals during the stretch. Annabel Stifler also added four goals, while Aubree Daugherty contributed three for the team's third hat trick. 

Brooke Carrier tallied four saves and allowed one goal in a winning effort. Fox set the tone with a game-high five draw controls, while Gillian Will totaled four ground balls. 

HOW IT HAPPENED
- The Garnet jumped out to a 4-0 lead in the opening quarter. Stifler kicked off the scoring with a goal at the 13:49 mark. Kela Watts followed with two goals in the period, while Stifler tacked on another score to provide Swarthmore with a four-goal edge. 

- Daugherty carried momentum into the second quarter with a quick tally, before Fox notched the team's sixth-unanswered score with a powerplay goal. Berry finally broke its scoreless drought with 8:44 left, but the Garnet countered with an avalanche of scoring to close the half. Daugherty, Long, Fox and Will all followed with four-straight goals to close the final eight minutes of the quarter, building a 10-1 advantage. 

- Swarthmore blanked the Vikings in the third with another 4-0 stanza. Fox and Daugherty both provided scores in the opening four minutes, while Stifler closed the period with a pair of goals. The Garnet expanded its total to eight-unanswered goals to take a 14-1 lead. 

- Berry scored in the opening minute of the fourth, but were unable to put up much resistance against a high-powered Garnet attack. Long, Elle Pedaci, Isabella Fermo and Fox all closed the game with goals to seal a 16-point victory.
