Baseball Overpowers Eastern in Return North

ST. DAVIDS, Pa. - The Swarthmore College baseball team powered its way past Eastern University, 13-2, on Thursday afternoon. The Garnet offense totaled 11 hits and 11 walks in a lopsided victory.

Aidan Sullivan was busy on the base paths, recording four hits, three RBI, and a run scored. Brad Johnston added three RBI of his own, highlighted by a first-inning home run. In total, eight different players drove in at least one run for Swarthmore.

Noah Potholm set the tone on the rubber, tossing five innings with one earned run and four strikeouts in a winning effort. Peter Frometa and Sullivan combined for two scoreless, with Sullivan striking out the side in the seventh.

HOW IT HAPPENED
- In the opening frame, Leor Kedar worked a leadoff walk, while Sullivan singled through the right side to put the first two batters on base. Johnston then cleared the bases with a blast over the left-centerfield wall. Later in the inning, the Garnet added another pair on a Nathaniel Kittredge double and a Alessandro Propper-Bowring single, making it 5-0.

- Swarthmore added more insurance runs with a four spot in the third inning. After loading the bases with a hit batter and a pair of walks, Kedar worked the third walk of the inning to drive home a run. Sullivan then came through with the big hit, clearing the bases on a three-run double to center field. Potholm then coasted through a scoreless bottom frame to give the Garnet a 9-0 edge after three innings.

- The Garnet added to its total with two runs in the fourth. Jackson Clemens singled in a run, while Wilson Henze tacked on the team's 11th-straight run with a sacrifice fly.

- Eastern got on the board with two runs in the fourth, but Swarthmore immediately countered with a pair in the fifth. Andrew Firko was hit by a pitch to plate the first run, while Propper-Bowring provided a sacrifice fly for his second RBI of the afternoon.

- Frometa made quick work of the Eagles with an easy sixth inning, while Sullivan struck out the side in a clean seventh to close the door on Eastern.
