Men's Soccer Rolls Past Stevens for Third Straight Win

SWARTHMORE, Pa. – The Swarthmore College men's soccer team got out to a 3-0 lead and went on to a 4-1 victory over visiting Stevens Institute of Technology on Tuesday night in the Garnet's final non-conference match of the season.

JohnPaul D'Andrea led the Garnet with a pair of goals while Joe Gilligan and Abdoul Diallo both netted their first collegiate tally. Noah Daniel recorded two assists. Colin Crowe made four saves in goal to earn the win. Swarthmore outshot its opponent, 13-11, and placed seven of its attempts on frame.

HOW IT HAPPENED
- The Garnet scored twice late in the first half to take the lead. In the 40th minute, Anzel Zhen dribbled in the left side of the box before connecting with Gilligan at the net front. Gilligan tapped in the pass for his first career goal.

- Less than three minutes later, Diallo found the back of the net to put his squad up two with 2:20 left in the half. Len Yamabe had the ball in the middle of the field just outside the box. He passed to Nicholas Matese towards the right sideline. Matese settled and booted a cross to the left post, where Diallo finished the play for the first marker of his career.

- The Ducks had the better of possession in the second half as they looked to get back in the contest. Crowe made a pair of stops to keep the visitors off the board and Stevens put another shot off the crossbar. D'Andrea scored his first in the 76th minute to swing the momentum back to Swarthmore. Daniel took a corner kick and D'Andrea headed the offering in at the right post.

- The Ducks were able to avoid the shutout in the 84th minute before D'Andrea closed the scoring in the 88th minute. Daniel set up the play again, this time with a great service downfield that put D'Andrea 1-v-1 with the goalkeeper.
