CARLISLE, Pa. – The Swarthmore College men's soccer team had its three-game win streak snapped with a 3-0 loss at Dickinson College in a Centennial Conference contest on Saturday evening.
The Red Devils dominated the first half of play, outshooting the Garnet, 13-1, and taking a 2-0 advantage in the period. Swarthmore battled back in the second, winning the shot count 9-5, but the Garnet could not solve the Dickinson keeper.
HOW IT HAPPENED
- The home team generated an offensive attack quickly after the opening whistle and found the back of the net less than two minutes into the match. The Red Devils controlled play throughout the opening 45 minutes, holding 62 percent of the possession time and thwarting the Swarthmore offense. The Garnet were only able to muster one off-frame shot in the half. Dickinson struck again in the 22
nd minute and took a two-goal lead into the break.
- Swarthmore threatened to close the gap in the second half, ripping off three shots that challenged the Red Devils goalie. The keeper came up with all three stops, including a diving effort in the 72
nd minute, to keep the Garnet off the board. Dickinson notched an insurance goal in the 81
st minute.
