Game Recap: Women's Soccer |

No. 15 Women’s Soccer Outlasts Ursinus, Remaining Unbeaten in the Centennial

SWARTHMORE, Pa. - The No. 15 Swarthmore College women's soccer team remained unbeaten in the Centennial Conference with a 1-0 victory over Ursinus College on Saturday afternoon. The Garnet improved to 5-0-1 and currently sit at the top of the conference standings.

Elin Bash was responsible for the game's deciding goal, netting her first collegiate score in the 44th minute. Izzy Tolosa set up the game-winner with an outstanding centering pass to help lead the Garnet to victory.

Sofie Aird posted her second-straight shutout and her fourth of the season. The senior made two saves, while her defense limited scoring opportunities for the Bears with a 19-4 advantage.

HOW IT HAPPENED
- Lillian Jarmosevich and Charlotte Carleton missed wide on a couple attempts to open the game. Celia Kanellakos then ripped a shot on goal in the 14th minute, but was turned away by an excellent diving save. Hayley Lewinski had a good look at the net on the ensuing corner attempt, but placed a strike just above the crossbar.

- Bash scored in the 44th minute to break a scoreless drought in the opening half. The rookie tapped home an assist from Tolosa for her first collegiate goal. Tolosa made a great move on the left side of the box to beat her defender before placing a perfect centering feed to her first-year counterpart.

- The Garnet defense allowed very few scoring opportunities in the opening half, holding a 12-1 shot advantage. The few offensive possessions that the Bears had were quickly stifled by an elite Swarthmore defense.

- Aird made an excellent save to preserve a one-goal lead in the 53rd minute. The senior keeper leaped to the near-side post and punched a dangerous shot attempt out of play.

- Aminah Evans nearly added on in the 60th minute, but was robbed by a team save from a Ursinus defender. The Garnet ended the stanza with a 7-3 shot advantage.
