SWARTHMORE, Pa. - The Swarthmore College women's basketball team split its two-game homestand with a 61-49 loss to Gettysburg College on Saturday afternoon.
Catherine Chadwell had another strong performance for her squad, totaling a game-high 19 points with six rebounds and six steals. The rookie shot 7-of-11 from the field and a perfect 2-of-2 from long range.
Vianna Kanyamiheto-Watson was the only other Swarthmore player in double figures, tallying 10 points. Kanyamiheto-Watson notched all her field goals from behind the arc, shooting 3-of-4 from three-point territory.

Raven Richardson hit a jumper to open the game until Gettysburg countered with 14-straight points, aided by its suffocating halfcourt press.
Kaylah Jacques settled things down for Swarthmore with a much-needed three at the 2:29 mark as the team cut its deficit to single digits at the first intermission, 16-7.
- Chadwell knocked down a pair of threes on consecutive possessions to bring the Garnet within five points at the 8:33 mark. Later in the stanza, Kanyamiheto-Watson connected from deep to make it a one-possession game at the midway point of the second , 23-20.
- Later in the second, Gettysburg went on another pivotal run, piecing together a 13-2 rally to build its lead back to double digits. The Garnet gained ground in the final minute with a pair of Richardson free throws and a Chadwell buzzer-beating layup to carry a 12-point deficit into halftime, 38-26.
- The Garnet kept pace with the Bullets in the third quarter until the Bullets rallied for a 6-0 stretch to pull ahead by 15 points. Swarthmore made the most of the final two minutes, ending the stanza on a 4-0 stretch to make it 47-36.
- Swarthmore pulled within single digits at the start of the fourth with consecutive buckets from Chadwell and Richardson, shrinking its deficit to seven points. However, the Bullets maintained its grip on the game, rallying for an 8-3 stretch, which was eventually broken up by Kanyamiheto-Watson's second three of the quarter, 55-46.
- Gettysburg held off the Garnet in the final three minutes to seal a double-digit decision. Claire Mathews added a late three-pointer for the Garnet, but the team was unable to piece together a late rally.
