GILBERT, Ariz. – The Swarthmore College women's tennis team is ranked 22
nd in the Intercollegiate Tennis Association Preseason Coaches Poll, the organization announced this week.
The Garnet are coming off a successful 2024-25 campaign in which they posted a 17-5 record, claimed their first Centennial Conference title since 2006, and advanced to the NCAA Tournament for the first time since 2007.
Swarthmore returns five of their six singles players from last year's lineup including
Erin Li,
Lola Diaz,
Kathleen Shiffer,
Ella Strickler, and
Lisa Messier. Li, Shiffer, Strickler, and Messier all posted double-digit victories. Li was named the Centennial Rookie of the Year and was an All-Centennial First Team selection. Shiffer and Strickler both garnered second team recognition.
Diaz, Li, Shiffer, Strickler, and
Riya Rao all remain from last season's doubles pairs. The duos of Strickler/Rao and Li/Shiffer finished with double-digit wins. Li and Shiffer were All-Centennial First Team honorees while Strickler and Rao received honorable mention.
The Garnet open the season on February 14 versus Division I Towson University.
