Men’s Soccer Ties #21 Stevens on the Road

HOBOKEN, NJ - The Swarthmore College men's soccer team settled for a 2-2 draw at #21 Stevens Institute of Technology on Sunday afternoon. The Garnet jumped out to a two-goal advantage, but surrendered a pair of goals in the final 20-minutes of regulation.

Swarthmore tallied the lone opening half score on a Ducks own goal, while Toshiro Kenney added an insurance tally in the 68th minute. However, Stevens countered with goals in the 75th and 81st minute to even the score.

The Ducks outshot the Garnet 18-13 with a five-shot advantage in the second half. Colin Crowe made four saves.

HOW IT HAPPENED
- The Garnet put together a few scoring runs early in the opening half with shots on goal from Nate Kim and Dante Cholmeley-Jones. Crowe was also forced to make a save early in the game to keep the Ducks off the board.

- Swarthmore broke through in the 30th minute with the game's opening score. Len Yamabe played a corner attempt into traffic and found the head of a Ducks defender, who deflected the ball into his own goal.

- Stevens broke out to a fast start in the second half with the opening five shots of the stanza, but none of the Ducks' attempts registered on goal.

- Swarthmore took a run at the net after a Ducks turnover at midfield. Kim came away with the steal at midfield and then fed the ball to Yamabe, who connected with Kenney at the near post. However, Stevens' keeper ranged to his left and denied Kenney's scoring chance.

- Moments after being turned away by the keeper, Kenney found the back of the net for an insurance tally. Following a corner kick in the 67th minute, Anzel Zhen played a strike off the crossbar, which was rebounded by Kenney for his first goal of the season.

- Stevens put pressure on the Garnet with a goal in the 75th minute to cut its deficit in half. The Ducks then evened the score in the 81st minute, making it 2-2.

- Swarthmore had one final chance with a Zhen free kick with 12 seconds remaining. The sophomore played the ball on goal from 20-yards out, but had his attempted punched away by the keeper.
