Men’s Soccer Draws Even at Juniata

HUNTINGDON, Pa. - The Swarthmore College men's soccer team battled to its second-straight draw with a 1-1 decision at Juniata College on Saturday afternoon.

Henry Lin notched an early score for the Garnet in the 16th minute, recording his first career goal. However, the lead was short lived as the Eagles quickly countered with an equalizer in the 18th minute. Both offenses remained knotted at 1-1 for the remainder of the game.

Swarthmore outshot its opponent 20-9, but held just a 6-5 shot-on-goal advantage. Colin Crowe was solid in net, registering four saves in 90-minutes of action.

HOW IT HAPPENED
- Swarthmore was on the attack early and often, firing four of the game's first five shots in the opening 10 minutes. The Garnet had three of their shots blocked, while Joseph Eyiolowope's attempt was stopped by the keeper.

- Lin opened the scoring in the 16th minute to put his squad in front. The senior connected on a pass from Len Yamabe for his first collegiate tally. The defensive standout now has three career points, after notching his first assist last season.

- Juniata took advantage of an early scoring chance to even the score in the 18th minute. Moments later, the Eagles fired off a pair of shots, but were denied by a Crowe save while the other sailed high.

- Crowe was able to make another save before the end of the opening half, while Yamabe was turned away on a Swarthmore shot on goal.

- Dante Cholmeley-Jones nearly put the Garnet in front, but hit the post on a strike in the 48th minute. The Garnet dominated the scoring chances in the second half with a 11-4 edge, but could not find a go-ahead tally.

- Crowe bailed out his team with a penalty kick save in the 66th minute. The first-year stepped up in a pivotal moment and turned away the Eagles to preserve the draw.
