LANCASTER, Pa. – The Swarthmore College women's soccer team swept the first Centennial Conference weekly awards of the 2025 season on Wednesday, as
Celia Kanellakos and
Dahlia Bedward garnered Offensive Player and Defensive Player of the Week honors respectively.
Kanellakos collected a pair of game-winning goals to lead the Garnet to victories over Transylvania University and 13
th-ranked Washington & Lee University. The sophomore scored the first of three Swarthmore goals, while adding an assist, against Transylvania to lead the Garnet to a 3-0 victory in the opener. Swarthmore then upset the 13
th-ranked Generals, 1-0, with a Kanellakos game-winner in the 89
th minute. She currently leads the conference in points (5) with two goals and one assist.
Bedward combined for seven saves while collecting her first two career shutouts in the Garnet's two wins. The senior made six saves against the No. 13 Generals, including a crucial leaping stop to preserve a tie game in the first half. Bedward, who only made one career start leading up to this weekend, is the only conference keeper with a pair of shutouts to start the season.
Swarthmore is back in action on Wednesday night as it hosts Rutgers-Camden.
