Box Score FREDERICKSBURG, Va. – The Swarthmore College women's tennis team continued action at the ITA Regional Tournament on Sunday hosted by the University of Mary Washington.
Several Garnet entries bowed out of the championship competition. However,
Uma Pogrebivsky won a pair of singles matches to stay alive in the consolation bracket.
DOUBLES
- The team of
Lola Diaz and
Erin Li battled in their Round of 16 clash in championship doubles but ultimately fell to Carnegie Mellon University, 5-8.
- Pogrebivsky and
Hannah Kideckel also reached the Round of 16 in championship doubles but were unable to advance further, dropping a 1-8 decision to Carnegie Mellon.
SINGLES
- In championship singles play, Diaz came up short in her Round of 16 bout against Haverford College, 4-6, 2-6.
- Li also was unable to get past the Round of 16 in championship singles. She fell to Johns Hopkins University, 2-6, 2-6.
- After dropping her opening match in championship singles on Saturday, Pogrebivsky bounced back with a pair of wins in the consolation bracket. The rookie defeated Washington & Lee University, 8-2, before taking down Mary Washington, 8-5, to advance to the consolation quarterfinals.
