Baseball Scores Season-High 19 Runs at Washington

CHESTERTOWN, Md. - The Swarthmore College baseball team erupted for a season-high 19 runs in a dominant 19–4 win over Washington College on Wednesday.

Eight different players drove in runs as the Garnet racked up 14 hits, nine walks, seven hit batters, and seven stolen bases. Aidan Sullivan and Nathaniel Kittredge led the offensive surge with four RBIs apiece, while Sullivan, Matthew Silvestre, and Zac Kahn each homered.

Swarthmore struck early and often, scoring in each of the first five innings—including four runs in the second, five in the third, and seven in the fourth.

On the mound, Liam Alpern provided solid work, throwing 4.0 innings and allowing just one earned run on three hits while striking out five.

HOW IT HAPPENED
- Max Beadling was hit by a pitch in the opening inning for the team's lone run. The Shoremen then responded with a pair in the bottom frame to take its only lead of the afternoon, 2-1. 

- Swarthmore rallied for four runs in the second to regain the lead. The Garnet scored their first two runs on two separate errors. Benjamin Buchman then singled in a run, while Beadling worked a bases-loaded walk to take a 5-2 lead. 

- Sullivan started off the scoring in a five-run third inning with a three-run homer. Kittredge then singled home a run, while Max Roffwarg walked for the team's seventh unanswered run, making it 9-2. 

- Kahn and Silvestre opened the fourth inning with solo home runs, before Kittredge brought home a pair with a two-run single. Swarthmore added three more runs in the inning on a pair of grounders and a wild pitch, 17-2.

- Swarthmore tacked on two more insurance tallies in the fifth inning. Kittredge collected his fourth RBI on a ground out, while Jackson Clemens brought home the team's final run with his first collegiate hit and RBI.
