Men’s Tennis Secures Perfect Conference Record in Senior Day Sweep

SWARTHMORE, Pa. - The No. 8 Swarthmore College men's tennis team capped off their Centennial sweep with a 7-0 victory over Washington College on Saturday, finishing the conference schedule with a perfect 7–0 record. 

Before the match, the Garnet honored seniors Max Pogorelov and Kevin Jiang, both of whom competed on Senior Day. Pogorelov teamed with Winston Zhang for a 6-1 victory at No. 3 doubles, while Jiang won 8-0 at No. 6 singles.

HOW IT HAPPENED
DOUBLES

- Michael Melnikov/ Utham Koduri earned their 10th win of the season with a dominant 6-1 victory at No. 1 doubles. The duo is currently ranked No. 4 in the nation.

- Kai Chen/ Andres Fente remained perfect in conference play, improving to 5-0 in the Centennial with a 6-1 win at No. 2 doubles.

- At No. 3 doubles, Pogorelov/ Zhang teamed up for a 6-1 victory. The win marked Pogorelov's ninth doubles victory of the season and his first with Zhang. The senior remains undefeated in Centennial Conference matches throughout his career.


SINGLES
- Melnikov won for the second time with a 6-1, 6-2 victory at No. 1 singles. The 10th ranked player in the nation improved to 19-5 on the season. 

- At No. 2 singles, Max Lindstrom dominated his match with a 6-0, 6-0 outcome to clinch a team victory. The junior remains unbeaten in the conference this season. 

- Rishi Verma cruised to victory with a 6-0, 6-0 decision at No. 3 singles. The sophomore finishes the regular season with a 5-0 conference record. 

- Aamish Pal secured an 8-2 victory at No. 4 singles, while Andres Fente was victorious, 8-1, at No. 5. Fente finished a perfect 5-0 in singles action this season, while Pal won his 12th match. 

- Jiang won on Senior Day at No. 6 singles, 8-0. The senior is 3-0 in the Centennial this season.

The Garnet (13-5, 7-0) host No. 10 Johns Hopkins University in tomorrow's regular season finale.
