BALTIMORE – The Swarthmore College baseball team had its eight-game win streak come to an end with a pair of losses at No. 2 Johns Hopkins University on Saturday. The Blue Jays took the opener, 16-6, in seven innings before winning game two, 14-4, in eight frames.
Brad Johnston led the Garnet offense, going 3-for-6 with a home run, four RBI, and two runs.
Max Roffwarg was 4-for-8 with one RBI and one run.
Max Beadling tallied two hits while
Nathaniel Kittredge knocked in a pair of runs with a homer.

HOW IT HAPPENED
- Hopkins took an early 3-0 lead in the first inning. Swarthmore got on the board in the third via a Roffwarg RBI single. However, the Blue Jays countered with a two-run home run in the bottom of the frame, their second of the game, to up the margin to four (5-1).

Zac Kahn smashed a solo homer in the fourth, his team-leading fifth of the year, to get the Garnet within three but Hopkins scored twice in its half to make the score 7-2. The Blue Jays broke it open with a six-run sixth. Hopkins tallied four hits in the inning, including a three-run home run.
- Swarthmore put its best inning together in the seventh with four runs. Johnston and Kittredge both crushed two-run jacks but the Garnet still trailed 13-6. Hopkins then ended the contest early with three runs in the bottom of the seventh.

HOW IT HAPPENED
- Swarthmore opened the scoring with three runs in the first. Johnston singled in a pair and
Aidan Sullivan came home on a double play. Sullivan reached on a walk, the 83
rd of his career, to set a new program record.
- The Blue Jays erased the fast start by the Garnet with three runs of their own in the bottom of the first. The host then took the lead with a two-run homer in the second. Hopkins upped the advantage with a seven-run fifth. The Blue Jays recorded five hits in the stanza, including a pair of long balls, to make it 12-3.
- The Garnet's final run came in the seventh on a
Matthew Silvestre homer. Hopkins scored twice in the eighth to end the game early.
