Women’s Tennis Cruises Past Bryn Mawr, Remains Unbeaten in Centennial

SWARTHMORE, Pa. - The No. 27 Swarthmore College women's tennis team remained unbeaten in the Centennial Conference with a 7-0 victory over Bryn Mawr College on Tuesday afternoon.

The Garnet broke out to a commanding start with a doubles sweep to claim a point over the Owls. Swarthmore then made quick work of Bryn Mawr, sweeping their challengers 6-0 in singles action. 

Erin Lin was victorious at top singles and doubles, while Kathleen Shiffer won at top doubles and No. 2 singles. All six of Swarthmore's competitors were two-time winners against Bryn Mawr. 

HOW IT HAPPENED
DOUBLES

- Shiffer/ Li teamed up for their third conference victory of the season, and second at No. 1 doubles victory. The pairing handed the Owls a 6-2 loss to open doubes action.

- Riya Rao/ Ella Strickler earned a 6-3 victory at No. 2 doubles. The team extended its streak to nine-straight victories, including a perfect 3-0 conference record.

- Madeline Posner/ Marisa Geib completed the doubles sweep with a 6-3 win over the Owls. The pairing teamed up for the first time this season. 



SINGLES
- Li battled to her second-collegiate No. 1 singles victory. The first-year took the opening set 6-3, before claiming victory, 6-4, to finish the match. She improved to 3-0 in Centennial action this season. 

- Shiffer remained in control at No. 2 singles, staying unbeaten in the conference. The junior won the opening set 6-3, before powering to a 6-1 victory in the closing set. 

- Strickler and Posner both won convincingly at No. 3 and No.4 singles, respectively. Strickler remained unbeaten in conference play with a 6-0, 6-0 rout, while Posner earned her fifth win of the season with a 6-0, 6-1 decision. 

- Rao was victorious in her second singles match of the season. The junior cruised to a 6-1, 6-1 win at No. 5 singles. Geib was also excellent at No. 6 singles, winning 6-1, 6-0. The senior earned her first singles victory of the spring.
