Game Recap: Softball |

Softball Sweeps Muhlenberg in Centennial Opener, McClammy Breaks Runs Record

BETHLEHEM, Pa. - The Swarthmore College softball team began its Centennial Conference schedule with two victories over Muhlenberg College on Saturday afternoon. The Garnet dominated the Mules with a 10-0 win in the opener, then secured a 6-4 victory in the second game. Softball has won nine-straight games with four-straight sweeps.

Olivia McClammy set a new school record by surpassing the career milestone for runs scored, adding three to her total on the afternoon. She also recorded two hits and drove in five RBI, bringing her just two hits shy of tying the program's all-time hits record. The previous career runs record of 109 was held by Marit Vike '19.

Lilly Goldberg tossed four scoreless innings in the opener and two more to earn a save in game two, extending her streak of consecutive unearned runs to 22.2 innings. The reigning Centennial Player of the Week struck out seven batters, issued one walk, and allowed just four hits to stifle Muhlenberg's offense.

Catherine Heflin opened the scoring with a solo home run, and Avery McClure added two more with a double to right field, making it 4-0.

- Goldberg responded with another efficient inning in the third. The Garnet bats continued to roll in the fourth, adding three more runs. Serafino Tinio sparked the inning with a pinch-hit, two-run single to left, and McClammy plated another run with a single to third, extending the lead to 7-0.

- Lia Fong took over for Goldberg after four strong innings. Fong picked up right where Goldberg left off, tossing two scoreless frames to keep the Mules off the board.
