Baseball Outslugs Eastern in Non-Conference Win, Earns Season Sweep

SWARTHMORE, Pa. - The Swarthmore College baseball team defeated Eastern University 17-9 on Tuesday afternoon, completing a season sweep of the Eagles.

Zac Kahn and Max Roffwarg each hit a home run to lead the explosive Garnet offense. Kahn recorded four RBI and three runs on two hits, while Roffwarg scored twice and drove in three RBI. Seven different players contributed an RBI as the team totaled 17 hits.

Peter Frometa earned his first career win with a scoreless fourth inning, while Michael Lewis recorded his first collegiate save, pitching three innings of relief.

HOW IT HAPPENED
- Roffwarg belted a two-run homer in the team's second at bat to give Swarthmore an early lead. Khan then tacked on another run in the inning with a sacrifice fly, 3-0. 

- Eastern tied the game with a run in the second, and a pair in the third. Aidan Sullivan then put the Garnet back in front with a go-ahead double. Swarthmore added three more in the inning on errors, making it 7-3. 

- Swarthmore busted the game open with a five-run fifth. Roffwarg singled home the first run, while Benjamin Buchman doubled home two more. Kahn then delivered the final nail in the coffin with a three-run home run, 12-3. 

- The Eagles rallied with three runs in the fifth to cut their deficit to six. Swarthmore responded with an additional run in the seventh, capitalizing on another Eastern error. The Eagles finished the game with six errors.

- Eastern remained within striking distance with a three-run eighth. However, the Garnet put the Eagles away for good with four runs in the ninth inning. Nathaniel Kittredge brought home two runs with a single, while the Garnet added two more on a wild pitch and a Wilson Henze single.
