SWARTHMORE, Pa. - The Swarthmore College baseball team was defeated by No. 11 Rowan University, 8-1, on Wednesday afternoon. The Profs pulled ahead with a four-run sixth inning.

Aidan Sullivan led Swarthmore's offense with two hits and a run, while Zac Kahn drove in the team's only run with an RBI single, marking his third consecutive game with an RBI.

HOW IT HAPPENED
- Liam Alpern pitched a scoreless first inning after recovering from a leadoff double. The senior recorded two flyouts and struck out another batter to leave the runner stranded at second. However, Rowan took advantage of scoring opportunities in the second inning, plating the game's first two runs.

- Alpern faced the minimum in the third and fourth innings, keeping his offense in the game. The Garnet threatened in the fifth with two baserunners, but were unable to score.

- Rowan extended its lead with a run in the bottom of the fifth, making it a three-run advantage. In the top of the sixth, Sullivan looked to kickstart a rally with a one-out single and a stolen base. The junior slugger advanced to third on a wild pitch and scored on a Kahn single, cutting the deficit to 3-1.

- The Profs broke Swarthmore's momentum with four runs in the seventh inning. Rowan totaled three hits in the inning and benefited from a Garnet error to build a commanding 7-1 lead. 

- In the eighth, Sullivan singled with one-out and then took second on his second stolen base. However, the Garnet were unable to bring him home after a ground out and flyout to end the frame.
