Baseball Drops Second-Straight to Arcadia

LEXINGTON, SC - The Swarthmore College baseball team dropped its second-straight game against Arcadia University, 12-9, on Tuesday.

Leor Kedar had a breakout performance with three hits and six RBI, which included a go-ahead, grand slam in the fifth inning. The first-year hit his first collegiate home run, while setting season highs in hits and RBI.

HOW IT HAPPENED
- Arcadia rallied for two runs in the bottom of the first inning to take the game's first lead. Swarthmore then tied up the score with a pair in the second inning. Nathaniel Kittredge and Zac Kahn reached base on walks, before fellow first-year Kedar singled home both runs to even the score, 2-2.

- The Knights hung a crooked number in the bottom of the second to build a four-run cushion. With two outs in the inning, Arcadia launched a two-run homer to regain the lead. The Knights then doubled its lead with a pair of two-out singles and a double. The Garnet then called on Michelangelo Duva, who induced a fly ball for the final out, 6-2.

- Swarthmore chipped away at its deficit with a pair of runs in the third. Matthew Silvestre singled to lead off the inning, advanced to second on a fielding error, found his way to third base on a wild pitch and then touched home on another wild pitch. The Garnet then loaded up the bases with no outs, but lined into a double play for two quick outs. Kahn added one more run with a single to second base, but Swarthmore had a runner tossed out at home to end the frame, 6-4.

- Arcadia added a run in the fourth off three-straight singles to pull ahead by three. The Garnet then exploded for four runs in the fifth inning on a Kedar two-out grand slam to take their first lead, 8-7.

- Despite taking its first lead in the top of the fifth, the Garnet were unable to post a shutdown inning in the bottom frame. The Knights responded with five runs on three hits and two errors to take a 12-8 lead.

- Kedar continued his breakout performance with a one-out double in the seventh inning, but was caught stealing third to end the inning. The Garnet would add a run in the ninth on a fielding error, but were unable to overcome their four-run disadvantage.
