ORLANDO, Fla. – The No. 26 Swarthmore College women's tennis team opened its Spring Break trip in style with a 7-0 shutout of Division II University of Minnesota Duluth at the USTA National Campus on Monday evening.
The Garnet came out on top in all nine matches against the Bulldogs.
Riya Rao was the only player to compete in both singles and doubles as 11 different Swarthmore athletes experienced victory.
HOW IT HAPPENED
- The teams battled in singles play first with
Madeline Posner getting the opening triumph of the match, 6-0, 6-0, at the fourth position. Rao cruised to a 6-2, 6-1 win in the sixth spot to pick up her first victory of the season and give the Garnet a 2-0 advantage.

Nathalie Williams did not drop a game on her way to a 6-0, 6-0 whitewash at first singles. It was her first victory of the campaign.
Ruthie Njagi rolled to a 6-2, 6-1 success at the fifth flight as she got in the win column for the first time this year.

Lola Diaz grabbed the first set of her bout at second singles, 6-3. She then made quick work of her opponent in the second set with a 6-1 decision.
Lisa Messier concluded the singles sweep with a 6-0, 6-2 triumph at the third position.

Kathleen Shiffer and
Erin Li dominated their foes at first doubles, recording a 6-0 shutout.
Brianna Viets and
Veronica Komorek teamed up for a 6-2 victory at the third spot before
Ella Strickler and Rao wrapped up the match with a 6-3 win at second doubles.
