Women’s Lacrosse Dominates Albright in Road Opener

READING, Pa. - The Swarthmore College women's lacrosse team enjoyed its first road trip of the season with a dominant 15-3 victory over Albright College on Wednesday evening. The Garnet have swept their career series with the Lions after defeating them the past three years.

Isabela Bloomquist and Kela Watts carried over their success from the opener with four points to lead the squad. Bloomquist netted four goals, while Watts tallied three goals and an assist. Both scorers totaled three or more goals in the first two games of the season. Sophie Finkelstein also put together a multi-goal performance with a pair of goals and an assist.

Swarthmore's offense dominated the stat sheet with a 33-10 shot advantage. Despite allowing the game's opening goal, the Garnet settled in to tally eight-unanswered scores to run away with a lopsided contest.

HOW IT HAPPENED
- Albright scored in the opening two minutes of the game on a powerplay goal. The home team was able to enjoy its lead for a few minutes until Annabel Stifler netted the equalizer with 9:08 left. Bloomquist then opened the floodgates for the Garnet with a go-ahead score at the 6:50 mark. Moments later, Finkelstein added her first score and Watts followed with back-to-back goals to put Swarthmore ahead by four points. Elizabeth Zack then capped off the quarter with the team's sixth goal in the final seconds of the opening stanza, 6-1.

- Finkelstein and Long scored the seventh and eighth unanswered goals for Swarthmore. Finkelstein found the back of the net at the 8:43 mark, while Long followed with a score shortly after. The Lions then ended their scoring drought with the final goal of the half. The Garnet held the Lions without a score for 25-minutes as they entered halftime with an 8-2 advantage.

- Bloomquist took over in the third quarter with three goals. The senior scored the first two goals out of intermission, before Watts wrapped up her hat trick with another tally. Bloomquist scored once more at the 3:38 mark, before Zoe Crawford wrapped up a dominating quarter with the team's fifth-unanswered score. Albright had its lone shot attempt turned away and were held scoreless in the third, 13-2.

- Albright scored early in the fourth quarter, but Swarthmore remained well in control. Carly Rodrigues-Reilly and Paige Samuelson added on later in the quarter with insurance tallies. Samuelson was credited with her first collegiate goal.
