SWARTHMORE, Pa. – The No. 29 Swarthmore College women's tennis team was bested by No. 7 Johns Hopkins University, 5-2, at the Mullan Tennis Center on Sunday.
Erin Li and
Kathleen Shiffer picked up wins for the Garnet.
HOW IT HAPPENED
- The Blue Jays swept doubles to take a 1-0 lead.
Nathalie Williams and
Lola Diaz dropped a 2-6 decision at the first position while
Ella Strickler and
Riya Rao came up short in their third doubles match, 1-6. Shiffer and Li fought hard at the second spot but fell 4-6.

Brianna Viets suffered a 0-6, 2-6 setback at fifth singles. Strickler was dealt a 1-6, 4-6 defeat at the sixth flight. Hopkins clinched the match with a 6-4, 6-2 victory against Diaz at third singles.
- Shiffer got Swarthmore on the board with a 6-3, 6-3 triumph at fourth singles. Williams forced a third set in her bout at the top spot but ultimately fell 3-6, 6-3, 3-6.
- Li battled through two close sets to begin her match at second singles before dominating the decisive stanza in a 6-7, 7-6, 6-2 victory.
