Women’s Basketball Claims Season Series Over Bryn Mawr

SWARTHMORE, Pa. - The Swarthmore College women's basketball team swept the season series against Bryn Mawr College with a 67-34 victory on Wednesday night. The Garnet have won 31-straight meetings against the Owls. 

Lillian Czub and Vanessa Amsinger both scored 10 points to pace the Garnet. Amsinger set a new career-high in scoring, while Czub matched her career best for the third time this season. Ten different players scored for the Garnet as they shot 44.8 percent from the field. 

The Garnet cruised to victory after a dominant first half. Swarthmore's defense allowed just one field goal, while holding their opponent to five points on 1-of-24 shooting from the field.

HOW IT HAPPENED
- The Garnet dominated the opening half as they allowed just five points. The team got off to a quick start with a 6-0 run after buckets from Jordana Sampson, Alyssa Hayashi and Katelyn Becker to open the game. Swarthmore wrapped up the opening quarter with a 21-4 advantage.

- Swarthmore's defense continued into the second quarter. After closing the first quarter with five-unanswered points, the Garnet tallied the opening 10 points of the second. Norah Wingfield helped spark the run with a three-pointer and a jumper at the midway point of the stanza, 30-4.

- Bryn Mawr scored their lone point of the second quarter with a free throw at the 4:20 mark. The Garnet closed the half with 13-unanswered points to build a 38-point advantage. The Owls were held without a field goal for the entire second quarter, and scored just one field goal the entire half, 43-5. 

- The Owls turned things around in the third quarter - outscoring the Garnet 13-10. However, Swarthmore wrapped up the stanza on a positive note with four-unanswered points in the final minute. Jasmine Branda scored on a layup after forcing a steal, while Anna Hansson added another layup on the team's following possession, 53-18. 

- Bryn Mawr opened the final stanza on a 5-1 run. Swarthmore then settled in with an 8-2 stretch to capture momentum. Raven Richardson helped lead the charge with a pair of buckets to aid the rally, 63-25.

- Late in the fourth quarter, the Owls scored 10-straight to shrink their deficit to 29 points. Bryn Mawr outscored the Garnet, 29-24, in the second half.
