SWARTHMORE, Pa. – The Swarthmore College women's basketball team wrapped up its season with a 53-45 defeat to Haverford College on Saturday.
 
The teams played a tight first half with the Fords holding a slim 25-24 lead at the intermission. Haverford started the third quarter with seven consecutive points and created some separation, taking a seven-point cushion into the fourth. The Garnet were unable to catch up in the final period as they were held to just seven points in the frame.
 
Alyssa Hayashi scored 15 points to lead Swarthmore in her final collegiate game. She also grabbed a team-high seven rebounds. 
Norah Wingfield and 
Anna Hansson contributed six points apiece with Hansson corralling six boards.

HOW IT HAPPENED
- The Fords doubled up the Garnet, 14-7, over the opening five-plus minutes of action. They shot 4-of-7 with a pair of three-pointers during the stretch. Swarthmore clawed back with nine of the last 11 in the period to tie the score at 16. The Garnet were 4-for-8 from the field with four different players contributing to the run.
 
- After Haverford scored three points to start the second, Swarthmore came back with four in a row to take a 20-19 advantage. The teams went back and forth over the final five minutes and a Fords layup with 33 seconds to go put the visitors in front, 25-24, at the break.
 
- Haverford came out and started the second half with a 7-0 run to open up an eight-point lead (32-24). The Fords made all three of their shots during the sequence. Wingfield and 
Jordana Sampson drilled back-to-back threes to get the Garnet within two (32-30) but Haverford responded with five straight points to maintain the advantage. The teams were even over the last five minutes and the Fords led 45-38 heading into the fourth.
 
- Haverford's defense stifled Swarthmore in the final period, as the Garnet shot just 3-for-13 and scored seven points in the stanza.
