SWARTHMORE, PA - The Swarthmore College Department of Athletics hosted Team IMPACT Day this past Saturday, spotlighting the incredible work of the organization, while celebrating its matches. The event served as an opportunity to strengthen and expand the department's involvement with Team IMPACT. 

The Garnet, with the coordination of Team IMPACT Fellows Liesel Blau and Joseph Eyiolowope, spotlighted the organization at all three of their turf triple-headers on Saturday. The festivities kicked off with a halftime celebration during the men's soccer game. Six of the department's seven matches were escorted onto the field by their Swarthmore teammates as they were introduced to the crowd before taking a group picture.

Eva (women's soccer), Abu (men's soccer), Lucy (field hockey), Zion (men's basketball), London (women's basketball) and Demetrius (men's lacrosse) were all in attendance for the ceremony. Eva, Abu and Lucy were also present on the sidelines for their respective games as they celebrated a pair of wins and a draw with their teammates. 


"I am so proud of our Team Impact fellows for coordinating this event to create more awareness around Team Impact," said Chris Irvin, Assistant Athletic Director, Finance & Community Engagement. "It was truly special to see our Team Impact athletes & families honored and recognized. We are so thankful for our Team Impact athletes' contributions and influence they have on our student-athletes, coaches, and staff here at Swarthmore College."

Prior to the start of Saturday's matches, the Garnet welcomed a new Team IMPACT match into their family with the signing of Zion to the men's basketball team. Surrounded by his teammates, Zion signed his national letter of intent as head coach Shane Loeffler made him an official member of the men's basketball program.

The Garnet also held an information table for all three of their turf games, where they accepted donations and encouraged sign-ups for the Team IMPACT All-In 5k, which will be held in Philadelphia on October, 19.
