SWARTHMORE, Pa. – The Swarthmore College women's tennis team hosted its Swarthmore Invitational on Saturday and Sunday, welcoming Johns Hopkins University and Haverford College to campus.
HOW IT HAPPENED
- The Garnet took two of the three doubles matches versus the Blue Jays.
Erin Li and
Lola Diaz teamed up for a 6-4 victory while
Veronica Komorek and
Riya Rao battled to a 7-6 (7-3) win.
Paola Almeda and
Kathleen Shiffer fought to a tiebreak but ultimately came up short 6-7 (5-7).

Hannah Kideckel earned a 6-4, 2-6, 1-0 (10-4) triumph in singles play against Hopkins. Li took her opponent to tiebreaks in both sets but fell 6-7 (5-7), 6-7 (3-7).
- Swarthmore claimed four of five doubles bouts versus Haverford. Shiffer and Li combined for a 6-3 victory while the team of
Maya Morandat Stilling and Rao came away with a 7-5 win. The Garnet received a pair of 6-4 successes from the duos of
Madeline Posner/
Hannah Kideckel and
Veronica Komorek/
Alice Coxe.
- Almeda fought to a comeback triumph against the Fords, 4-6, 6-3, 1-0 (10-5). Posner also went the distance in her match but was on the wrong end of a 6-4, 4-6, 0-1 (3-10) decision.
