Box Score FREDERICKSBURG, Va. – The Swarthmore College women's tennis team completed its competition at the ITA Regional Tournament on Sunday at the University of Mary Washington.
DOUBLES
- After winning their first two matches on Saturday, the duo of
Erin Li and
Kathleen Shiffer bowed out of the doubles draw in the Round of 16 with an 8-5 loss to Carnegie Mellon University.
- The team of
Ella Strickler and
Brianna Viets dropped their first-round match on Saturday but came back to reach the quarterfinals of the consolation bracket. They defeated Salisbury University, 8-2, in the Round of 16 before falling to Haverford College, 8-6, in the quarters.
SINGLES
- Li advanced to the Round of 16 after picking up a pair of victories on Saturday. However, her tournament run came to an end with a 5-7, 6-3, 0-1 (6-10) defeat against Johns Hopkins University.

Madeline Posner earned a pair of wins in the Blue 2 bracket on Saturday to reach the semifinal round. Posner was unable to keep the momentum going on Sunday, dropping a 6-7 (2-7), 4-6 decision to Christopher Newport University.

Lisa Messier came up short in her first-round match on Saturday but bounced back to make a run in the consolation bracket on Sunday. Messier won her first consolation match, 8-4, versus Stevens Institute of Technology before receiving a bye to the Round of 16. Messier advanced to the quarterfinals with an 8-5 triumph against Salisbury before bowing out with an 8-2 loss to Washington and Lee University.
