SWARTHMORE, Pa. - The Swarthmore College Athletic Department welcomes Ethan Alderman to our athletic training staff, announced on Tuesday morning. Alderman joins Swarthmore's experienced sports medicine staff as an Associate Athletic Trainer.
"I'm very excited to have Ethan on board," said Bryan Lurie, Head Athletic Trainer. "He comes with generational knowledge as his father was an athletic trainer and experiences across all levels of the NCAA. He will help shape the care we provide for student-athletes with evidence-based medicine."
Alderman arrives at Swarthmore with a decade of experience in the athletic training field. At his most recent stop, Alderman served as an athletic trainer at West Chester University, where he provided care for basketball and women's rugby, for two years. He has also worked as a certified athletic trainer for Nemours Children's Health since June 2023.
Before joining the Rams, Alderman was the Head Athletic Trainer at Immaculata University for three years. Alderman provided care for women's soccer, men's basketball, baseball, men's and women's lacrosse, men's and women's track & field, and men's and women's cross country. He also hired, assigned and managed two athletic trainers during his time with the Mighty Macs.
Early in his career, Alderman made stops at Concord University and the University of Texas Arlington. Alderman broke into college athletics as a graduate assistant with a two-year stint at Arlington, before serving as the Head Athletic Trainer at Concord for two more years.
While at Concord, Alderman oversaw football, men's basketball, men's and women's golf, men's and women's tennis, and men's and women's track and field, while also providing supervision to a staff of four graduate assistant athletic trainers. He also served as an adjunct professor, teaching kinesiology and therapeutic modalities.
"Ethan brings to Swarthmore many years of experience," said Marie Mancini, Director of Sports Medicine. "He will be a great compliment to our staff as we expand our Sports Medicine department to five full time athletic trainers."
Alderman earned his Bachelor of Science in Athletic Training in May 2013 from Ithaca College. He went on to earn his Master of Science in Exercise Physiology from the University of Texas Arlington in May 2016.
